SYP at the BORG; moisture content of <10??

Can it be that all the dimensional SYP I bought recently at the BORG for my workbench project is between 4%-9.7% on MC or is my meter broken???

I was expecting a MC disaster with lumber from the BORG but if this is accurate, what a nice surprise!!

It's definitely possible, especially for wood stored indoors this time of the year. However, considering that your meter readings vary a great deal, and also considering that the lumber should have equalized inside the store, I think that I'd check it with a different meter.

FYI when you dry wood below 6% it can become very brittle.

I must have either read something wrong on typed something wrong b/c ripped and cross-cut all the wood for the top and the legs this evening and everything that started out at 2x8 is reading 7%-9% and the 2x12 stock is 10%-11.5%.
