jeff...

I'm really glad to being close to having another honey-do crossed off my list :) Here is the shutter design my wife picked out. Real easy to make but the house has 14, 6' windows. That's 28 shutters There is almost 200 BF of lumber in the shutters. All done in good grade 1x6x6 ERC so they will last a good long time. I must have cut at least 500 BF of ERC just to get good grade 1x6's. ERC is packed full of knots, bark inclusion and dote in bigger logs. She wants a patriotic red white and blue house, painting was the roughest part... House built 1899, I think the simple shutter design goes well with the style of the old place.

Looking good Jeff, I had the same design on my last house but there were only 6 shutters. I cannot imagine having the patience to do 28 :rotflm: The only drawback I found was that windblown debris tends to get caught behind them (think pine needles) :confused_

They look great, Jeff!!!:icon_thum:icon_thum:icon_thum:icon_thum

(I think that the thought of having to paint and prime all those shutters would be my biggest gripe!:BangHead::BangHead::BangHead:)

They really turned nice and really add the finishing touch to the outside!

Good choice of color shades too!:eusa_clap:eusa_clap

Can I give your number to my neighbors? They took down their shutters (which are very similar) to repaint them 5 years ago. Ever since, they've been leaning against one of the two junkers in the driveway. The previous painters didn't remove the shutters to paint, so there is an old paint "shadow" on each side of the window the color of the previous paint.

Very nice Jeff. Paint looks great, and I'm sure you preferred that over staining :)

Excellent job on the shutters, Jeff! They look great but even more important is the fact that Momma's happy!!!
