Pete, newby here. I am just now beginning to set up a garage shop for some basic woodworking in my retirement years. I've heard folks say that a dusk collection system is a must. I have absolutely no idea what to offer on the dust collector if it's still available.
Thanks,

It probably depends on how much of the stuff in the pic is included. It says that the shop vac is not. If the cart and the barrel are included, then it might be worth more than a new Dust Deputy by itself.

First off I have to say that I disagree with dust collection being a must-have in a garage shop. The only thing I used the dust deputy for was my planer. It could also be used for sanders but isn't strong enough for a table saw. That being said I think $40 is a reasonable price for the setup as pictured.

$40 is more than reasonable. I doubt that I could even build the cart for that.

As long as you are not working with exotics or other allergy-inducing woods and only using hand tools, then I agree about what we hear about the need for a dust collector being over-stated. That setup looks like it would be a good basic unit for dry sanding on a lathe or sanding flat work. As you implied, probably not needed if one is using scrapers instead of sanding.

To clarify . . .
The cart and the shop vac are not included.
You get the Dust Deputy mounted to a base that fits snugly to the bin and an 8 foot long hose.
(The base has a groove routed in the bottom that fits tightly to the bin).

Guys I appreciate the input. I was hoping I could connect it up to a table saw and or miter saw. The $40.00 price is probably a good price but believe I'll pass since it may not be efficient for a table saw.
