Router speed control for Grinder?

Has anybody ever put one of these on a grinder? Or can anyone see a reason why it wouldn't work? Seems like an inexpensive way for me to make my grinder a varible speed..:icon_scra

A grinder is an induction motor.

so it wont work
unless you happen to have a grinder with a universal motor (I havent seen any)

I tried one of these on a handheld grinder. It kinda worked, but not the slowest speed. The power wasn't enough to turn the grinding disk at that speed. However, it ran the tool (probably not good for it though)

As stated above, it does work on my Chinese 8" grinder, but not well at all.
