I am about to re-issue the definitons and responsibilities again with some additions and clarifications. It would help me if you re-familiarized youself with those previous discussions so that we can proceed from that point rather than rehash the whole thing.

FYI, I have removed DL Ames and MikeF from the admin usergroup and notified them. I suspect that the samething should be done with at least Woodguy in the moderator ranks. Dave, Clay ????
Thanks

Steve as far as the moderators are concerned I was under the impression that it was a voluntary position, and that we didn't "fire" anyone from it for inactivity. But allowed them to resign if they felt they couldn't put in enough time. And in the meanwhile double up mods in the forum that was lacking from the inactivity. There are a couple of mods that I don't think frequent the site enough to fufill their role, but I haven't done anything about it other than to assign an additonal mod to their forum, if needed. I really don't know the best way to ask someone to resign from a position that they volunteered for. Lately I feel that we are still well covered in the mod dept. even if we don't have two assigned to every forum. We have fostered an environment of very good will on the site and have very well behaved members, and several very dedicated mods who are doing a great job of handling the general housekeeping duties, and the occasional censoring needs.
MYCW,
Dave:)

I will agree with Dave here Steve. I feel we are still well covered. Some of the more busy forums are doubled up, and I don't think that any one moderator is overstretched as of yet.

Dave & I discussed this issue privately last night. He reminded me that it was my policy not to "fire" anyone.

Now as far as moderators are that situation is well in hand, but the Admins and programmers are not. We are not getting the help or activity we really need. So how do we handled that? That's the real problem. Is it a real problem, yes. Why? Well I'll have more to say on that subject later today, I hope. I'll be explaining the issue from my viewpoint and some of my ideas for fixing the problem. But a good starting point for everyone is to read the those threads, becuase that is where I intend to start the discussion.

I re-read them. The site has grown so much since then. I would expect or at least hope that someone would tell me, or suggest to me that maybe I should consider letting someone else have the opportunity to be a moderator (or more to the point - Cathy - it's time to move on....). Sorry to hurry your discussion.

Cathy as far as I am concerned your are doing what is expected of you as a Mod, and your participation on the site and in the staff is valued highly. We need a lady to help keep us guys straight, and to offer that point of view which we sometimes don't see.

Cathy, I seriously agree with DaveO's point! You serve a unique role in this group. It is nice to have your perspective and your amount of participation. I would hope that you stay aboard!

Cheers,
Chris

Cathy, your input and perspective is sorely needed and much appreciated. :icon_thum

Steve, while perusing some of the stickies I noted an outdated link. Under Webmaster Announcements forum the sticky thread titled "New Member Checklist" requests members put their location on the old "frappr" map. The link is invalid. I'll post it on the Help Desk forum.

Look forward to the discussion. Otto should send quarterly PMs reminding us to review Staff Roles. The guidelines are great and rereading them helps me maintain perspective.

Once I am settled in a little more I should be more active. I have not even found my main computer or my jeans yet and the boxes keep multiplying. I keep emptying them and there are more some where else. And I have not seen the walls or floor in my shop since the movers where here 3 week ago :BangHead::BangHead::BangHead: The shop is going to take along time before it is usable:crybaby2::crybaby2::crybaby2::crybaby2::crybaby2:

Hey Guys,

I admit I'm not around much any more. Some of you know what I'm dealing with the has resulted in very little internet time. I am still hitting the shop and do plan to return to be more active on the forum when I have some closure with a personal issue. For now it is nearly impossible for me to have the time to get on the forum at any point in the day due to work and other things.

If you feel the need feel free to remove me as a moderator. I hope to return to a more active status very soon in the near future.

Thanks guys,

John
