Several months ago we had a problem in that everytime we clicked on the back button after reading a post it would go back but go to the bottom of the page. You then had to scroll up to decide what post you next wanted to read. VERY frustrating. Within the last couple of days it has started again. I don't know if it is a result of the software upgrades or not. HELP!!

Stuart...I wouldn't say that I'm a guru by any means, but what you're describing appears to be browser dependent, as I'm using Mozilla and I'm unable to reproduce the problem.

I'll try it in IE, and see if i have the problem.

What OS and browser are you using?

Clear your browser cache, history, cookies, temp files, close IE, and restart. See if it does it again. You'll have to re-log onto all your sites after.

+1 to what Rob said. And you might have to go a little farther. I had a similar problem but when I clicked on Back it went back several pages. I had to do what Rob suggested plus I ran a defrag program, optimized and scanned my Registry with Registry Mechanic and ran a few malware removal tools. I don't know if all of them were needed, but that process fixed the problem and now I go Back to where I should be.

I just did all that and still have the problem. The last time this happened, I was not the only one on this site having the problem and IIRC Steve (or someone) did something to remedy the situation.

Is this happening now to anyone else?

I have started seeing it again Stuart.

(May be tied to Steve's updates?:icon_scra Problem sneeked in again. I am on IE with XP.)

Mine is doing it again now.

I think last time Bas did something to fix it.

I'm sorry you're having the problem too Mike and Wayne but it's nice to know it's not just me. You may be right about Bass doing something the last time this happened. I know someone did something.

Actually, I kind of like it. It doesn't go back to the bottom of the page, it goes back to wherever you were last in the page. If you leave the page at the top, and then go back, it goes back to the top. If you leave the page at DaveO's post and then go back, it goes back right to that post.

At least that's how it works for me (IE7).

I just look at the first time you reported this. Unless something was reported behind the scenes, nothing was ever fixed. You suddenly reported it was fixed. Jim had been looking into it, perhaps he remembers more.

Man, I must be better than I thought, because I don't remember doing anything. Which means the problem must be fixed by now, because I've done the exact same thing, which is nothing! :rolf:

Question for those experiencing technical difficulties: Do you read threads in linear, hybrid or threaded mode? If you don't know, at the top of each thread, there is a button "Display mode". Click on that to see your display mode. Try switching it to linear if you're using hybrid/ threaded, and see if that makes a difference.

It sounds to me like you have gotten either a config changed or you have corrupted the config with software or some other issue.

First off..are you using IE or Firefox?
Have you tried the other if you are?
Have you recently upgraded one?
