Nova Neptune

I’ve done a lot of woodworking over the years and a little turning on a Harbor Freight lathe that I no longer own - only spindles. I am currently taking a Turning class and having fun learning. I have a garage shop with limited space, been looking at midi machines. A new Nova model the Neptune with a number of unique features has caught my eye. Anyone have any experience with this or feedback ?

I don’t know if this is still available, but if it is, I would think they would be ready to deal.

Here are some mid-sized lathes that are great tools to turn smaller projects and learn with:

NOVA Comet 14 DR
Rikon 70-150 VSR
Jet 12-21
WEN 34035

If you have limited space I do not recommend a full sized lathe because you will still need space for a sharpening station for your lathe chisels and it is a large expense for something that you may not want long term. Start with a mid sized lathe and work you way up if you fall in love with it. Personally, I do not recommend the Laguna lathes. They are not bad tools but I find them to be less user friendly compared to these other brands. As a Easy Wood Tools demonstrator I work on different lathes at the shops I go to for events. Lagunas just haven't been as nice to work with as other brands, there always seems to be a complication or difficulty with their lathes and honestly it is like trying to get a Lexus when a Honda or Subaru is all you need.
