This popped up un Facebook. The first electric drill that I ever used was this one of these with a 1/4” chuck about 75 years ago.

The black circle at the base of the chuck was an eccentric that did the final tightening using an Allen wrench. The grip on the drill bit was excellent but somehow this chuck fell out of favor.

You must have been about 3 years old!🙂. I remember my dad using a drill like that. If he ran it too much he would have to put it in the freezer to cool it down.

I have a similar drill from my Dad, all metal body & chuck, B&D I think. Chuck is very small (1/4"?), and I have little use for a corded drill with a small chuck and a repaired cord. Sentimental value I guess.
