I got home about 7:45 PM last night, dog tired! We had a very good showing at the Klingspor event this year and loads of help from lots of members that came and pitched in to make it a success. Kudos to Scott Miller for working with me to get it organized (we know we can do better next time, especially on scheduling demonstrations). Doug and Travis -- thanks for bringing the lathe -- we really needed it both days and you made it happen when I couldn't line one up.
Having the Raffle Prizes on display and selling tickets with the Mail-in Form was a big, big plus -- IIRC, Travis returned Friday afternoon with $195 in sales and we took in an additional $355 from later Friday through Saturday's closing at 4:00 PM. $550 ain't bad, folks! The booth display was a bit less than we've had in the past, but Ted's fantastic Clock brought in lots of interested people and then everyone enjoys all of Phillip's scrollwork and bottle stoppers, the other turnings, my toys and birdhouses and Jim Williams nice pens.
Extra thanks to TedAS, TracyP, PChristy and ScottM for staying after the show ended to help tote all of our stuff out in the rain to our trucks -- we all got soaked, but we got it all home safe and dry!
I did not take the Powermatic Drill Press with me as planned since it would have gotten soaked in the back of my Ranger -- Coleman Fourshee has agreed to hold on to it for us until I can pick it up sometime in the next few weeks. I will send him a note of thanks even after we all got loaded and the guys left for home, I went back in and thanked him personally, but a follow-up never hurts!
I was sure glad that the time changeover occurred last night, I fell asleep about 10 PM EDT and woke up at 6 AM EST for a solid 9 hours of rest. I was worn out!
Travis, I'll send you a check with the raffle money with my travel information sometime in the next few days -- oh, yeah, I suppose you want that Sprint Air Card back, too! It worked great.
