How do any on here keep track of the various pen kits, blanks, completed pens, etc? My excel spread sheet is getting to be a pain, not that I'm any good at excel.

If you figure it out lemme know. My current system is just to throw them in a draw and be surprised what I pick out.

Some time back Ace Hardware had shoebox-sized totes for $1 apiece. I didn't really need them at the time but I just couldn't pass them up so I bought about a dozen. Wish I had bought a dozen more !!
i'm still a pen noob and I'm only turning 3 types of pens. Slimline, cigar and Roadster . I keep each kind in it's own tote along with the bushings and any " oopsies "
I do the blanks the same way ...exotics, figured, plain ol blanks , etc
Any blanks I have prepped go in the totes for the kits
As for the finished product, so few of mine make it to a stage that I am proud to show that they're really not that hard to keep up with :gar-La;
I do put a little stringed " craft tag " on them with the kind of wood and the date

The totes stack well so I can get a lot of them in a small space

That's my 2 cents

Good News. Home Depot has $.99 shoe boxes. I agree, they sure are handy.

Zip-lock storage bags, the non generic ones, also work well. And they come in different sizes.

I'm asking about software, I have the plastic shoe boxes for blanks, and a store rack for the kits, I just need a handy way to see what kits I have and how many, etc. Something better then the standard excel spreadsheet that I'm using now.

You could try and use vba inside of excel to make a userform that allows for an easier way to view, remove, edit inventory. I know at work this is how we keep up with our inventory (not pen related obviously). I am not exactly sure what you are looking for.
