So, for those who are part of the Popular Woodworking/Woodworking Magazine fan club, guess who is featured in this months newest issue!

Our very own Jerome Bias wrote for the Arts & Mysteries column this month.

His topic, Thomas Day.

Its a great article, very informative. Be sure to check out Jerome's picture on page 6 in the Contributors section.

Some great pics are in this article, some I believe were taken by fellow NCWWer Ed Brant.

Congrats to Jerome for such a fine article on woodworking!

Thanks I had a a grand time working on the subject. I never knew that writing was so hard. I have a new respect for woodworkers who write for magazines.

By the way for some cool eye candy of Thomas Day house interiors click on the slide show on the preservation NC page that I have attached:

The slide show link only takes me to one pic. Are you involved with the book at all? Looks quite interesting.

I remember seeing some of his work at the NC Museum of History and it was VERY impressive. :icon_thum

I am not involved with the book, but I have been involved with the development of the exhibit that will be opening the day that the book is released. The exhibit will be a rather large one at 7,00 sq ft at the NC Museum of History.

It will be quite an interesting sight. It will include timber frame structure that will be used as a reproduction of his early work shop. I think the building is 20x24. They are constructing it inside of the museum. I saw it a month ago and they had had most of the framing members up. It was quite cool. Currently the shop is constructing a great wheel lathe that visitors can operate. They are also stewing over the idea of how do you protect folks from the handle after they get it going and let the handle loose. And there should be a miniature reproduction of the steam engine that he used.

Oh yeah did I forget to say that here will be lots of furniture on exhibit. Lots. Be prepared for furniture overload.

Great article Jerome! I remember passing Day's shop in Milton on the way to Danville and being intrigued with this man even as a little fella. (10-12 years old) I am glad to see him getting more exposure.

Keep up the good work,
James
