i recently purchased some fresh cut red oak, while i was stacking the wood i noticed some black bugs (like ants) on the wood. I noticed some holes bored in the wood and some of the knots were chewed on.

I would know how to kill the buggs, can i fog them or spray the wood
without ruining the wood .

any help would be greatly appricated.
thanks

Bugs and wood, wood and bugs. The two go together - rule of nature. If you have the means to cook them out that is the best way - 115 for 24 hours or so will do it. But few have the space to dry wood or means to plane it again if it warps.

That brings us to chemical intervention. Keep in mind that whatever you put on the wood will be coming out in the air when you cut it. Carefully consider what you will breath and touch when you are working with the wood.... and what will still be a part of it long after you are finished.

it was ants..the small types that bite like a sucker. sticker and let it air dry. If you still have bugs in the spring I can kiln dry.
