I suppose my membership has been approved, or else I could not post? i have been aware of this site for several years, and recently learned that membership "exceptions" are made for companies who are in a wood-related line of business.
My wife and I do meet those requirements, but did not join in order to simply ply our wares - we are woodworkers too. While we are members on other forums, we don't actively participate on many.
My family (Jaynes) is originally from the Morganton area, and I still have kin there. I'm also a direct descendant of Charlie McKinney in what was known as McKinney Gap. He was widely known in that region, for interesting reasons. One of his 48 children (just the ones on record) was a daughter named Mattie McKinney, and she married John Jaynes, and had children, but not quite as many. She was John's' only wife, unlike Charlie who had four wives all in separate households on that mountain. yes they all knew each other. he was a busy man.
So John and Mattie had a several offspring including a son named Foster "Foss" Jaynes, and he is my late grandad. My great aunt Lillie, born Dec 24th 1907 just passed this last September at the ripe young age of 101. She had cooked her own breakfast that morning before atending our annual family reunion, where she was in fine form. She kept her own household until the end.
So while I may not live in NC, my NC pedigree is fairly strong, and my roots are deep there, you might say.
I will see if this thing actually posts before i decide my membership was accepted. I hope so, this is a cool site!
