going nuts

I had a pocket full of hickory nuts last week and one of my students decided to see what he could turn from them. This is what he came up with.

This first picture is a Hollow Form.

This is a bunch of mushrooms he turned.

Thanks,
He held the nut with pin jaws on a scroll chuck. Had to be careful not to hit the jaws.

You have some very talented students. Maybe this will help inspire them. I turned this with hickory nuts embedded in a plastic resin call Alumalite. Sorry for the picture quality.
