Foam Cube

I have made a case that will hold my Worksharp and all of its parts. On one side I have a compartment where I will store the plate glass wheels. I was hoping to find something like the packing foam that I could cut out slots for each of the wheels so they are held securely and well protected. The issue is where I can buy such a thing. Don't really want Styrofoam, but was thinking like the thick spongy foam that allot of things get shipped in. Any ideas?

The first thing that came to me was the "Egg Carton" foam that you can get to put on your beds - don't know if it will be thick enough or how much you need - But it is a thought if you can't find anything else

Why not cover 1/4" ply dividers with felt instead? That foam is temporary by nature; if you use it over and over it gets ragged. If you want to go the foam route, I have seen that at big U-Haul places for packing china.

Mill Outlet Village on Capital Blvd in Raleigh (north of I-540) sells foam in various sizes and thicknesses.

cool thanks. I had thought felt, but wont the sandpaper tear the felt? Figured the spongy denser foam would be better. The egg create is a good idea. That is the material I was thinking of.

Yeah, sandpaper will hang up on felt and absolutely destroy foam. I like Joe's idea. :icon_thum

Think I might be going with Joe's idea. I should have enough 1/2 ply laying arounf to make it with out having to buy anything.

What size, etc. are you looking for? We throw out that stuff by the box fulls at work. If you can give me an idea what you're looking for and how much of it you want, I might be able to help you out. I'm in Lincolnton.
