Tom, how do you feel it stacks up to the Festool?

I also tried the Festool a while ago and it seems that the DeWALT cut quality is a little better. I used the same kind of wood (from the same batch I believe, lucked out and had the last sheet left for this test) for both tests and the DeWALT seemed to do a little better. The DeWALT clamps are very cool also.

I noticed the track is what 49" long? Do they have 8' long for busting up full sheets?

Perhaps you are thinking of another review. In my review, the first paragraph of the section on the Track reads,

"At the heart of the DeWALT TrackSaw Kit is the specially designed aluminum track. The track in this review is 59"-long but DeWALT offers extensions and longer versions of the track that allow cutting full sheets of plywood in a single pass."

my apologies i missed that. i didn't see a link to the larger tracks at the bottom of the review, what got me think was wondering what it would cost to have the 8' version.

Lots of positives, but any deficiencies? Anything that should be changed or improved?

I suppose the price will be the biggest sticking point but if you want quality tools, they are going to cost money. There just isn't any getting around that part of it.
I was concerned at first that this might be a very limited use tool but the baseplate is flat so can be used off of the track and there is plenty of plunge range for all normal cutting chores.
