Anyone use Danish cord to do a seat? I found a pretty good article in Fine Woodworking (284), but would like some advice from someone who has done it. Lessons learned, where to buy cord etc…
Didn't a member here recently buy a bunch of stuff from a chair company that was going out of business? I believe they bought cordage, dowels and some carts.
Maybe they have cordage they want to part with.
I have done 3 projects recently and they all came out very well. I did the Wood Whispers project, then a Fine Woodworking bench and a footstool. I ended up buying an extra 10 lb box of cord as the instructions on the first project said I would get a bench and a chair out of 10 lbs. Wrong. I ended up doing two benches and the footstool and have some left over, so I have a 10 box unopened here in Wilmington if you need it.
I've done it. my advise is to make a small test project, maybe put it together with pocket screws. do the nailing and the weaving. Nothing like actual practice.
i posted on this earlier....i think. i couldn't find it. but here is my latest project. African mahogany. all cut from a 8/4 board so the parts are beefy. first project using any weaving. this is a laced danish paper cord. joinery made using my homemade horizontal mortiser. on the corners...
