These are my first projects after returning from the sandbox and redoing the shop, which will be a post coming shortly.

This is a hook made from mahogany is a size G.

This one is made from Bloodwood and is a size H.

This hook was a challenge. It's made from Lignum. The tools were sharp, fresh off of the Worksharp 3000 (welcome home present), but this wood was tough to turn. I set it in the window sill for a couple of days and it turned from brown to green. Size I

Walnut was the wood of choice for my final hook of the week. It's a size J.

Today, I had my first try at turning acrylic. It's a thread hook handle made of blue and green swirl. That stuff is messy. It sticks to everything and the tools need to be SHARP. I like the way it turned out and will turn more in the future.

Thanks for looking.

Nice looking crochet hooks. That really looks like some tedious work.

Thanks Tracy. I use a roughing gouge to get them round then shape them with a skew. I'm no good using a spindle gouge. I keep trying but end up putting it down and going back to the skew. :dontknow:

Very nice crochet hooks i really like the acrylic one! What type of grind are you using on your spindle gouge? a fingernail grind works really well, personally i dont really like a straight grind.

Nice hand-made hand tool! :icon_thum

From the thread title, I thought you had added one of those jumbo crochet hooks to your workbench. Yeah, I've been reading Christopher Schwarz's book.

Thanks everyone for the comments. I have a spindle gouge with a fingernail grind and a straight grind. I'll keep trying them. Guess I need to make a few ugly sticks. :wsmile: The four wooden hooks are for a lady on LOML crochet board. LOML is keeping the acrylic one for herself. I have a red and white swirl to do so she might give that one up. :nah:

Thanks again.
