Progress so far - Got the cases done and assembled & mirrors came back from glass co. Ready for lacquer but the weather is not cooperating 🥵.

The panels are the backers for the mirrors. Yes, I “cheesed out” and didn’t do any joinery. Planned on wedged thru tenons, but in the end I chose to just screw them together. Not going to be seen.

Rather than fitting the doors, I built the door first, then made the cabinet around the doors. Just wanted to see how that worked, and as you can see by the gaps, it worked out nice.

After applying dyed shellac. Sorry this is the only pic I have. The tops will have some type of crown, haven’t figured that out yet. I’m making it myself which will be a first for me.

No direct experience with inset doors, but it seems to me that I'd rather trim down a door to fit an opening than trim down an opening in a cabinet to fit a door. But you clearly have better work processes and precision than I do!
Nicely done.

Hey Henry, thanks for that. There was no trimming at all. I taped spacers on each side of the door & top and bottom. The stile and sides are already joined together with a miter. Clamps across face frame, and bottom to top, drill and screw.
