Just thought I'd show y'all my newest intarsia project. It is for my wife's cousin who own a buffalo ranch in Roxboro called Sunset Ridge Buffalo Farm. Jack is the president of the Southeast Buffalo association and every year goes to several association conventions. This year Jack asked if I could make a few Keepsake boxes for the convention auctions so this is the first of hopefully many of the boxes. It is made from some Walnut that Jack sent to me from the farm in Roxboro. Total of 75 pieces from 12 woods for the inlay. Box is 6" x 8" x 3.5"

Wow! Great job. I would not have the patience to tackle a project like that, much less the skills.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. When My wifes cousin in Roxboro asked me to do them I decided that a good swap would be a couple of the boxes for some of the walnut that Jack had cut from the farm .The boxes are made from some of that walnut. I think that they will go well at the auctions

In these pics, everything is just sitting in the lid of the box. I don't glue anything in until I am happy that everything fits right. then I take a few pieces out at a time , apply CA glue , replace the pieces,so on until everything is glued in. Then I apply the last couple of coats of spray-on satin poly.
