Any recommendations for which glue to use when joining PVC to MDF? Was going to use epoxy, but was wondering if anyone had an easier sure fire product suggestion. As tight as they fit, it doesn't have to be bullet proof.

I have found that Polyurethane glue stick just about anything to anything. Try some Gorilla glue, but scuff up the PVC with some sandpaper first.

Dave's got it dead-on! Here's a picture from my Album showing how I made some for my shop -- I used a coarse rasp on the PVC to get some deep scratches to improved the bond and used Gorilla Glue (polyester resin glue) that fills any gaps quite well.
Setup for glue Finished (see foam in gaps).

Go to this part of our Link Library to see three examples of methods used by others (I patterned mine after the one shown by Terry Hatfield in the 3rd link).

Great. Anything I should know about the Ape Sticky? Never used any before. Fumes? Skin issues? Does it foam rapidly?

Yup, poly glue and roughing the pvc are the ticket.

Something to think about- instead of using two sections of pipe I made my blast gates with a section of pipe on one side, and half of a pipe connector on the other side. That way my blast gates have male and female sides. I can remove, relocate, or work on my blast gates very easily.

Quite honestly, the best glue I have ever used. Just don't get it on your skin. It will have to wear off.
It does foam pretty quickly, but always be sure to wet one side with water before applying the glue and assembling. Normally sets up in a couple hours.

The foam is not as strong as the cured glue, so make sure you have a tight fit and clamp, if the glue can push the joint apart as it foams. ;-)

I will disagree with others, I don't use ape sticky for anything other than joining dissimilar materials. I agree with the recent Fine Woodworking test, polyurethane glues are the weakest when gluing wood to wood. I like Titebond III. :eusa_danc
