A couple of weeks age, Phil Ashley posted about J&G Machinery in Sanford, NC. They had a Laguna 24" Bandsaw listed for sale at a great price. After much thought, I bit the bullet and posted my MiniMax MM20 for sale. The larger table surface and the new style ceramic guides sucked me in. Tuesday, I drove up to Sanford and picked up the saw. The folks at J&G were great to deal with and really have a great selection of "Big Iron". They sell both new and used and also rebuild machinery to new. Got the saw set up and running yesterday and it is quite a beast. Now that it is all said and done and they are sitting side by side, I cannot say that it is that much better. I feel certain that once new blades are installed, it will be quite a different story. The "bigger is better tool disease" just took over my brain; but knowing what I know now, I am not sure I would have gone to the trouble of swapping.:BangHead:

Nice haul Dino!:eusa_danc If you need someone to take one of those off your hands, just let me know. I would be happy to relieve you of the burden of having two large machines in your way while working!:icon_thum

Dino,

if the MM is getting in the way I could store it for you in my garage, it would be a nice upgrade from my 14" Grizzly...... I mean that I would keep it in the corner until you needed it back:lol::lol::lol:.

I only wish that I could have your problem:lol:.

Good Luck with the Laguna.

Jimmy:)

I have several people interested in the MiniMax but as yet no one has shown me the money. I don't think I'll have too big of a problem finding it a new home. The two saws do look somewhat alike. Even though their stated weights are close, the Laguna seems more robust. MiniMax (SCMI) bandsaws are manufactured by Centauro and the Laguna is manufactured by ACM; both form Italy as is Aggazani which make up the big three European bandsaw manufacturers.

Mike, The bandsaw is not listed on Craigs List. It is listed on the MiniMax group site and the Felder group site. I had hope to come up this weekend but that didn't work out. I could have delivered the saw to you at that time.:lol::lol:

you're right i spaced on the mini-max. i did think most of laguna's saws were made by griggio though. never heard of ACM.

Congrats Dino! Does it have the Laguna guides or the roller guides?

I have been to J&G Machinery. They have an impressive operation.
