I have a 10" craftsman band saw....(I know don't expect too much from this) model# 119.214000. When I bought it in '96 I was smart enough to buy the 3 blade pack of spare blades #929867 at the same time only I did not check them to see if they were correct. I was cleaning and decided it needed a tune as the blade was wandering hard inward. After adjusting the tension and the 3 rollers, it still pulled hard inside when cutting. So I felt the problem was the blade being dull or maybe hit a small nail or gravel.

So I went to put on a new blade that was bought at the same time as the saw and the teeth are pointed up when installing the blade not down. How are these supposed to work, I thought all saw blades had the teeth pointing down when feeding to the blade. Am I missing something here or what?

Turn the blade inside out, then the teeth will be facing the right direction. Wear gloves and be careful so you don't cut yourself up.

Re: Band Saw Blade?

@#$%^&....I edited it myself.....I would have sworn that I did that and it did not help, but when it was you that gave that reply I thought either he is being funny or very serious.

You were correct.........I have been telling the LOML that I was tired and now I got proof.:BangHead:
Time for some R&R....heck no I don't need alcohol at all and I have not had any either although I would swear there was some involved if this was someone else.

Now I can put a new blade on maybe when I think I am smart enough. LOL

Thanks Jeff you kept me from going to sears and making a fool of myself or them one.

Don't feel bad. Been there, got the Tee Shirt.

I was so excited to get my first Carbide Bandsaw blade on my bandsaw after getting a great deal and was showing it off to a neighbor after I spent an hour dialing everything in, cleaning, etc. Turned it on with a big grin and it cut like a dull butter knive, burning the wood. Talk about a classic moment...really put me in my place. The neighbor was laughing about "the Great Deal I Got...yeah right!" I didn't realize it turned inside out when I un-coiled it. Took a while to figure out. He still gives me a hard time.

LOL

I have not installed the blade yet but I did do some looking at things. I did as Jeff mentioned and all will work like it is supposed too. That all got me to thinking, I usually don't work with hardwoods and have been careful not to cut metal although it can happen. I checked as you would a table saw, to see that the blade is parallel to the miter slot and miter gauge. I checked it with the miter gauge from both direction with it cut off and found out that the table had slipped causing the miter gauge to appear as though the blade was pulling inside and causing a curved cut. After some adjustments it is almost correct, still needs a little more tuning and it cuts much better....wonder how much different the newe blade will make now.

LOL.
I haven't made that mistake since 1975. Unlike you, I did it loudly and confidently as a new broom in front of my new co-workers. It took a looooonnng time to live that one down. We all have to start from zero going down the road to experience. That's one of those little annoying potholes that one learns about the hard way.
