Another irksome self promoting gloat. :no: I however, look at it as another clue :eusa_thin in the investigation which I wrote about in another thread in this forum today. :wsmile:

:XXfridge::XXfridge:, is where this one will end up.

So, are we to expect his brilliance every time someone mentions a dust collector. So tiring...

Does anyone care to make a wager how long before this is included in one of Alan's rants?

Ah, the advantages of an efficient cyclone, set up in a push-through configuration, and a high dust alarm which is available through the Schafter - Pentz company right here in Washington, NC

We could start an office pool...

the Shafter - Pentz company:eusa_thin... say... isn't Alan's last name Schafter?

If you do, be sure to include that quote from the American Lung Association giving the unit its most satisfactory rating. :gar-La;:gar-La;:gar-La;:gar-La;:gar-La;

Well..... To be honest, Touchwood built me a high dust alarm that I consider superior to Alan's design. I took pictures of it not too long ago, and was going to start a thread and post them, just haven't gotten around to it.

Maybe I should go ahead and do that, and talk about how it is superior to Alan's since it doesn't use an incandescent bulb so therefore is more energy efficient and "green".....:wink_smil

All of you could jump in and go wow, got to have one.....:gar-La;

It's tempting, but remember the expression....never argue with an idiot. They bring you down to their level, and then beat you with experience.

If memory serves me correctly (which odds are it doesn't) when he joined the site he was a regular guy. As tempting as it may be, please don't initiate any poststo stir this uip. However, if he opens the door (thread) have at it.

Cathy, I thought the same thing you did when he joined, but if you remember, he was getting his shop set up, getting his cabinets and doors built, etc. I think we were fooled and he is now showing his true colors.

I did check to see what he is posting on SMC though, and after reading through it, I think I have to disagree with Glennbear. I don't think he is doing something with Bill Pentz or Clearvue, but I do think he is trying to get himself "established" as a SME to be a writer or contributing editor at a magazine.

As for the rest of Glennbear's thoughts, I agree.

I have held off posting on this topic until now. This is a tough one. I agree Alan's posts are pontificating. His motives are not necessarily so clear cut, but for the most part that is irrelevant.

What is important is:

1. Dust collection is a contentious topic

2. Because of 1., everyone should make the extra effort to be polite and open-minded in such threads

3. Extra effort should be made NOT to hijack these threads away from the topic presented by the OP. If you have something else to say, start a different thread.

4. Respect should be the watchword of the day when it comes to this subject.

Sorry I double posted. One other thing some people seem to be able to form strong opinions with little facts or the ability to ignore contrary information. That is their perogative. It becomes our problem when they foist it on others.

Based on #3 above shouldn't his post be moved to the "How to" forum ? It seems that every time someone mentions dust collection he seizes the chance to give a bombastic tutorial on his way of doing things. If such posts were located in the "How to" forum users who CHOOSE to may read his ideas as opposed to getting hit over the head every time someone mentions dust collection. :wsmile:

you know what??? Scott's input on this may actually shut Alan down for a while, basically he has been told to go back into his lab, and consider something that would be more affordable for the everyman... Let's see how that pans out now?
