scraper

Card scraper question

I am finishing a bedside table top out of curley walnut. I am hoping that scraping it will be enough, since figured wood is not easy to sand. I am getting lines where I scrape. Is this a bad burr or bad technique?

Stanley #80 Scraper

Just recently bought a Stanley #80 scraper---an ebay find.:-D It has some age on it but basically a good tool. The blade needs regrinding I think. Do any of you guys know what angle bevel should be on it? It did not have a burr on it like you put on a card scraper but I don't THINK it is...

Turning a hook on a card scraper

I have had a card scraper set for a while, but have been hesitant to get a burnisher due to the high cost of one...a metal rod??? $20??? Well, I had Xmas money burning a hole in my pocket today so I got one. Can anyone provide advice on the best way to sharpen and turn a good hook on a scraper...

Stanley #12 scraper

Got my Stanley #12 today. It is in great shape but I will likely buy a new Hock blade for it. Insom, any tips on setting the angle to get those fine shavings? I tried to upload some pics but the system won't take them. Will try again later. Mike
