    1/3 HP 1075 RPM Motor for Spindle Sander?

    What say you? I have a condenser fan motor and needed a spindle sander this weekend. Was thinking about a shop-made one. Looks like most of the ones on the market are powered by 1/4 1750 RPM or so motors. Would I miss the 700 RPMs if I made it a 1:1 gear ratio?

    Compressor motor rpm question

    If the compressor pump is rated at say 850 rpm, what should the motor rpm be to achieve this??? I know the combination of pump wheel diameter and the motor pulley figure into this but not sure how this all calculates. This is info for a potential gloat (maybe) so need some fast feedback...
