faceplate

Need Help To Begin Faceplate Turning

I have been turning spindles or rather flutes...long cylindrical stuff and know nothing about faceplate turning. I would love to turn some bowls, vases etc and also turn somethings from wood that can be found in the woods ....like cherry burls , or just whatever etc...Any links to just basic...

WTB - Shopsmith 6" Faceplate

I'm looking for a 6" faceplate for a Shopsmith, but not so much so that I want to drop $40+ w/ Shopsmith. But, if anyone has one they just aren't using and would be interested in selling at a reasonable price, please let me know! Many thanks, Milo in Tennessee

Faceplate screws pulling out

Hi all, I am experimenting with the LDD(?) deal where you soak your rough turnings in Liquid detergent and I am really happy with the difference in cutting. Streamer shavings are flying all over like I am Lyle Jamieson. What I am having a problem with is the screws on my faceplate staying in...

Faceplate - homemade or buy one?

how hard is it to make a faceplate? or should i just buy one. The lathe I am getting does not have the faceplate with it, so I would like to either make one or buy one... Any advice? Thanks Mike
