After the fun I had restoring a old Goodell Pratt mitre box (documented elsewhere in this forum), when I saw a Stanley 2244 in rusty but nice condition at a garage sale near my house, I put my $50 down and got out my jug of evaorust...
Here are some "before" shots of the box all broken down:
And an "after" shot:
After getting this all apart I saw how the angle locking system works on this - and it is very secure and dead on. A saw also came with it (A disston) that sharpened up nicely. The new saw is shorter than the one for my old box (24 vs 30 inches) which is good and bad - it fits in my tool box - but it does take a few more strokes to get a cut made. Anyway - a nice find - I am very pleased.
