Wood Matching

I have to build a face frame to mount to a birch/ply cabinet. What wood would be the closest match so they would stain out evenly

Maple
Poplar
Basswood

poplar.. and saw4you has some sweet poplar cheap. have used a bunch with birch!!:eusa_danc

Thats good news...........so the popular stains up very similar to birch het.......any thing special I would have to do to get them to match

Why not solid birch? It is available at most lumber suppliers. We used a lot of it at the millwork company where I worked. If you do find it, get some extra because it does not machine as well as red oak. It has a lot of "pick out" due to the irregular grain normally present in birch.

Got a bunch of 4/4 maple coming out of the kiln in a few weeks, some of it is new (white) maple, come pick you out some.
