Wood ID

Anyone know what this is? I got a decent amount of shorter boards that were being thrown away at a local hardwood plant. It isn’t as hard as oak, not as soft as pine. Maybe somewhere in between the two.

The endgrain isn't quite clean enough to help with the ID. Do you have a hand plane that you can use to clean it up?

Wipe it down with some mineral spirits. It will quickly become your favorite wood

how about a sharp chisel or even a knife, just to get a clean cut in the endgrain...

face grain looks similar to beech, but not absolutely sure.

Sapele

When I first looked at it, it looked a lot like the Sapele that I have. So I agree with Fred
