So I was at Capitol City Lumber (CCLC) this morning for my regular 'I wonder what they have' visit and a few things caught my eye in the 'Fall Sale.' These may be of interest to others, but if you don't like CCLC just stop reading and ignore this post. I am not trying to compare prices with other vendors, just pointing out a few things, especially the Sapele.
- Sapele - listed as 4/4, but not planed, so actual thickness was over an 1". Some wide boards there - one 18", one 15", one 13", all quite flat (by eye). I am guessing they were 12-16' long at least. Note that CCLC has rules about how much you have to leave if you have a board cut; I believe for an exotic you have to leave 6' and domestic 8'. I did not look at grain because several of these were deep in the stack. $10/BF
- Walnut 8/4 $10/BF - decent stack
- Cherry 8/4 - $5.BF stack of 7-10 boards, basically all the same width.
There were other items in the Fall Sale, but if I had spent $$$ this morning, those would be the items where I would have spent it.
