Very Odd Trivia

Yesterday I turned a few pens. Sorry no photos yet.

Anyway one of the blanks was one of the pearlized plastic/acrylic blanks. I had not used any of these before and decided to make a pen for my 15 year old daughter.

Within seconds of the bit hitting the blank, I got a huge smile on my face. The smell took me back 30+ years to the memory of my father setting at the kitchen table.

Anybody have a clue of what he was repairing?

Actually no.

When we were growing up we didn't have alot of money. So my father would repair his own dentures. I am guessing the epoxy he mixed to glue his dentures had the same chemical make up of the blanks.

The odd thing is, I have not smelled this in over 30+ years. So it stirred some memories for me.
