Building the attached photo, bed frame out of rough cut cedar 4 X 4s. Headboard will be a double herringbone pattern with a natural wood poly. Any recommendations on how to minimize wood movement? Wood has been in the house to acclimatize for about 3 months. Moisture content are right at 8% after sitting inside. Will start to mill to size for assembly.

Are you in Maryland?

Where did you find rough cut Western Red Cedar 4 x 4s? What is a "natural wood poly" (polyurethane finish)?

No stain just a natural finish and yes polyurethane finish. Actually found the Cedar at Lowe’s by chance while looking for hinges. I am in North Carolina near Sanford.
