Tools from other cultures

Been doing some GOOGLEING and it seems we have been remiss in looking at woodworking from other cultures. We know the history and tools of "Western" cultures and quite a bit on far Eastern. We say Japanese, but I suspect similar across all Eastern regions. What do not see is much on India or North Africa. You can't tell me the fantastic fretwork done in Islamic cultures was done without excellent tools.

I have seen a few bits on knives and axes, bow drills, but not much else. What are we missing? I have seen furniture in museums that rival anything from anywhere 1000 years old. They had to have tools!

My daughter and her family live in Delhi, India. This is a table made by a local craftsman. [Extra points for wood ID!] Visiting the workshop is on my to-do list for my next visit.
She has also acquired some fantastic older pieces where the craftsmanship is amazing. Everything seems to be hand carved. I'll see if I can learn more about tools used for the older furniture.
