Soul of a New Machine

If you're like me, seeing the guts of a project is often almost as rewarding as seeing the finished product - I learn a lot from what and how others are doing things.
So in that spirit, here are a few pictures of a new clock under construction. All parts are now cut out (waiting for laser cut aluminum hands) and finishing and assembly will begin after Christmas.

Joe- my long lost brother! Not only do your kitchen cabinets and tile work closely resemble mine, you do woodworking on the stove. Thought I was the only one. Can’t wait to see the completed work. Those look like stepper motors. What do you control them with?

I normally do the steaming using the gas grill outside, but it was just too cold.
Yes, those are steppers - they're controlled by an Arduino microcontroller mounted onto a custom circuit board.

As with pretty much everything on this particular clock, the gears are cut with CNC.
