Fascinating video, Dan. Thanks for sharing. I noticed he cold forged the trigger. Is that to make it stronger, or just a matter of convenience (i.e, no need to heat the forge for a single part)?
This is the most influential builder of our time-- Wallace Gusler. I have met Wallace a couple times over the 40 years of building longrifles. Wallace was the first guy to find out how rifles were actually built and opened up the world of building rifles for others. For years he was the master builder at Colonial Williamsburg and garnered the admiration of others like John Bivins at Old Salem, NC. Take a look at this amazing guy on the video above.
My dad made a few rifle sticks from scratch from family farm walnut. But this is a whole nuther animal. He at least started with an old 98 Mauser action.
