Can anyone point me to a decent set of plans for a Scandinavian bench with a shoulder vise? I'm in the process of planning a bench that includes a shoulder vise but I can't wrap my head around the installation.

FWIW....I use my handmade twin screw vise quite a bit in my guitar building and I'd like to have that capability built into my bench. I'm certain that a shoulder vise will work just fine for my purpose and I already have the hardware (which was given to me by Mike Davis).

Chris I built mine using an article by Frank Klauzs.

I have a couple pdf files I can email if you PM me your address.

Its actually pretty straightforward. The tail vise, OTOH is another story :-0

Thanks Doc. I'll PM you my info. I'm thinking about either the Veritas quick release tail vise or the Benchcrafted wagon..... And I'm leaning towards the Veritas. That looks like the easiest way to go.

I'm curious, why do you need to buy the Veritas quick release tail vise if your shoulder vise from Mike will work?

David Justice finished a new workbench about 3 months ago with a tail vise whose installation "took a few years off of my life".

Mostly for holding stock for planing. But also for holding items flat on the bench for routing ....such as fretboard inlay, etc.

The veritas quick release is, as best I can tell, easy to install. It's designed as a solid unit and doesn't sag like s traditional tail vise.
