We had a great time building and using shaving horses today.

Rdoby brought the one he made last year to let us see how it is done. :icon_thum

And LeftyTom brought the one he started to get a few details worked out.

Mine, Rick's and Tom's.

Mike,
Thanks again! A great time was had by all!!

I am heading out to the shop to work some more on mine here shortly. Gotta finish it while it's all still fresh in my head.

It was great meeting everyone!

Don't be misled: Mike did the work, I just pointed and grunted.

Good to meet Phillip and Jeremy. and to yak with Rick again.

I got home to trim the bushes, and sure enough, both batteries to the hedge trimmer were flat as a flitter. Does ol' style hedge trimmer count as a hand tool?

Or is that Mountain View :icon_thum:icon_thum:icon_thum Beautiful country out there, hard to find a level spot to set your drink on.

Had a great time at Mike's yesterday. Mike, as always, is a gracious host. Good to see Tom again, he made some nice improvements to his shaving horse. Phillip was having too much fun watching Mike use his handtools. It won't be long before his shaving horse is up and running.

Phillip, I plan on sharpening my drawknife soon!

Phillip,

How's that shave horse coming?

I finally got most of the sawdust shoveled out today.

Got the bottom side of the seat cleaned up using my great grandfathers hand plane. Had to get it tuned up first. Still need to get the hardware I need to put it all together and make the foot rest.

Started on yours yet?

I have a wedding present to finish first.

I checked the MC on that thick board and I think it needs to dry another 6 months or so. Three inches takes a while to dry.
