Finished this shaker Candle Stand this week. All hand tools except for the lathe. This is based on the Hancock version that Will Myers did an article on in Popular Woodworking #229.

I made this one as practice out of some lower grade cherry that I bought from someone off of craigslist very cheaply. I bought some very nice Cherry from Wall Lumber to make a couple more.

Thanks Bill, I did and they look OK, the last one looks better than the first. They are all covered with a metal "spider", that's what Will Myers called it, so no one can really see them anyway. Those DT's are exactly why I did this one as practice before making a few.

That is REALLY nice and when you compare that design to others, it is easy to see how elegant the Hancock version is!
Well executed!

Good thinking on the spider. I made a small candle stand table with the three legs and the dogs ran into at full tilt. Busted one of the legs out. After repairing it, I made a spider and installed it. No more problems.
