I am on a business trip to Santa Ana California. I flew out early and took the tour of the Sam Maloof home and shops.
It is phenomenal to see this much of the work in a single place. He was a true artist and very practical.
I actually had the opportunity to go into the shop while they were building items in the Maloof style using his original templates. Amazingly, the shop is relatively small for the number and quality of work made there.
I highly recommend going if you are in the area. The traffic on a Saturday was not horrible like i had expected. It is intimidating when the navigation system says stay in the right 7 lanes but it did move. It is about 45 minutes from the Santa Ana airport.
