Restored vintage lathe.

I got tired of making square things, so restored a 1950s Rockwell Beaver 3400 lathe. These lathes were made 20m away from me in Guelph, Ontario. I never heard of them before moving to Canada, but there are tons of them here... probably 1/4 of lathe ads on CL are for these. It's a great little lathe with 36" between centers, 12" swing, 1MT tapers on both stocks. The motor it came with is a Leland 1/3HP repulsion-induction motor, which I put on a hinge, which also lets it fold up for storage. The base is secured by 1/2" carraige bolts with wingnuts that go through the dog holes on my bench. I had to replace all the bearings in the lathe and the motor (money pit) and repaint everything. I'm quite happy with how it came out!

That's a beautiful money pit. I'm sure it's a dream to turn on.
