Sully has reported a post.

Reason:
Isn't this exactly what we want to discourage?

It sounds like someone who has zero interest in the site, except for the purposes of advertising. Craigslist is for that.

Subject: selling of tools

I am only interested in selling wood working tools. I am not a person that works on wood. When I go to the classifed ad section it tells me I need 5 I beleive it means messages prior to placing the ad. I do not do wood working and need the funds from the sale of the tools immediately please. I have posted photos at the store in Raleigh, NC. Thanks

It doesn't just sound like she doesn't have interest in the site, she comes right out and says it. I'm inclined to agree that CL is her best bet.

I put her Biography in Bold "wishing to sell the tools left by her husband". While Craig's List is most appropriate, it would not hurt us to allow her to post them for sale here either.

Or we could encourage her to put them on craigslist and then we can link to them using the Hot Deals forum.

My thoughts exactly. We may even have some folks that would be willing to help her get them posted.

Someone needs to contact her via email as she cannot read this forum.

I contacted her with the following email:

Hi Ms. Waters,

I am contacting you on behalf of North Carolina Woodworker regarding your request to post tools for sale on the NCWW website. First, I would like to offer my condolences on the loss of your husband.

The NCWW website is specifically for individuals who are actively involved in woodworking or have an interest in woodworking. We have restrictions in place on the website that require members to be active on the website for some time before they are allowed to post advertisements. As such, advertising on the NCWW website is not the most appropriate venue to sell your husbands tools nor would it provide you the most exposure and quickest sale of the tools.

I would encourage you to post the tools for sale on craigslist as that will provide you maximum exposure to a large number of potential buyers and it is free of charge. There are a number of free craigslist sites in the RDU area:

http://raleigh.craigslist.org/
http://greensboro.craigslist.org/
http://eastnc.craigslist.org/

If you need any assistance with creating an ad on craigslist, I would be happy to assist you, or even create the ad for you. Once your ad is posted on craigslist, we can provide a link to it on the NCWW forum.

Best regards,
Sully
