For sale is a 13" Dewalt planer that I have owned since purchasing new in 2005. The machine has been used several times a year to plane cypress boards, but it has probably not run more than a total of 5 hours in its life. I was forced to purchase a 20" Grizzly to handle a mahogany countertop job I was doing and just never went back to it. I don't have anything to compare it to as far as its condition, but I have certainly tried to take care of it.

Blades just rotated. I will sell the stand for $25. If you would like to see the machine run, you are more than welcome to come to my shop, or I can take it to you if you are in the Raleigh area. Any questions, please call 919-868-3882.

Aren't there a lot of reviews out there talking about how short the lifespan is on these blades? I keep thinking I want one of these but I just can't get past all the comments I've seen about the blades. Everything else about it looks pretty nice.

The blades don't hold up well if you expect it to do the work of a 20" planer. If you pre-cut your work in rough dimensions and don't take off more than 1/32-1/16" at a time they last a long time. If you get a blade nick this planer is great in that it allows you to loosen one blade and slide it a little, re-tighten and cancel out the nick. I imagine it's gone by the time you read this. That's a great price.

You could always buy it and put on a helical insert head.
