The sieve keeps the big chips from filling up the filter bag in the shop vac.

I made this adapter to hook up the 3" hose to the planer.

This fiber drum keeps the bag open inside the separator.

This is the dust storage canister that I use for my bandsaw. I use a filter bag in my shop vac and only have to replace it every two fill ups of the canister.

My philosophy is: Why buy it when you can build it!

Nice job on the home made collector Mike:icon_thum - it is good when you can do it yourself and save some money:eusa_danc

Some very clever engineering, and I really like the artisan look of the barrel. Using a fiber drum to hold open the bag is a great idea.

Wow, I'm totally impressed!

Maybe there is room to convert old wiskey/wine/beer barrels into dust collectors!

I know a few folks on the site who'd help empty those barrels for ya!

Really like that fiber seperator. Those pesky bags drive me nuts.

Good job, Mike!
I like the see through one. And the fiberboard liner is ingenious!:eusa_clap:eusa_clap

Some great thinking. The best part is that most of what you used were just things you had laying around collecting dust:gar-La;.
