Oakwwod Veneer has some tutorials online that you can watch. Generally they recommend using solvent based contact cement. It works, I use it but don't like to smell the fumes.

I have also used PVA glue. YOu can apply the glue like contact cement and let it dry for 30-60 minutes. It can then be reactivated with an iron. I use a paper bag between the iron and the veneer. The PVA glue can cause the veneer to curl so it makes it more unruly than the contact cement.

You can also use cold press glue but that requires clamping. I suppose you can use Hot hide glue but I've never done that.

Hot hide glue works great. Hopefully Danmart77 will respond as he is the expert.
