I made my index wheels there all 8" dia.
The one for 24 open segments has 48 index's thats the one with the most right now, I am thinking of going with more segments at some time, and I think I can get them all on a 8"dia. wheel :widea:

Instead of fancy indexing wheels, why not rig up an old saw blade on a shaft? With the variey of tooth counts available today, I'm sure you could find one that would work. A simple ratchet & pawl mechanism against the tooth face should be doable.

There are reasons, having to do with the closed segments used with the open segments, but trust me on this.
the best numbers to use for open segments are 8, 16, 32 64 ect
and the next best set is 12, 24 48 ect.
You can use other numbers for sure, but it dont work out as good.
Which limits the index wheels you use.
You have to have an index wheel with twice as many index's as the number of open segments per ring because every other ring is offset.
But they are easy to make :icon_thum
