Hello everyone. I'm Phyllis and new to woodworking. I'm semi-retired and live in Pittsboro. I've decided to finally live my dream, of making beautiful things out of wood. I've converted one of my out-buildings into a wood shop (a simple one). It has the basics so far with a table saw, a cool workbench that I found at the Habitat Restore (with an old 10" Craftsman wood vise on it), a band saw (cheap/little one), a porter cable sander, and a wide assortment of other small power tools and hand tools. I am about to make my first jig, which will be a table saw sled. I recently apprenticed with an ole timer woodworker and we built a rustic, whimsical chair. He gave me lots of tips and I got to use all of the equipment in his shop, with the exception of his lathe. He did however offer me to come use it anytime. So, turning is also on my list. Well, there you have it, that's my short story. Thanks for having me and I'm looking forward to the group. Thanks.
