Saturday 16[SUP]th[/SUP] we’ll be doing a shop tour of “Shop Class” here in New Bern. This is a business that offers woodworking machines to members to use “like having a gym membership”. Maurice Howland, owner & operator, will be giving us the tour. Many of you met Maurice and his trainer a couple months ago at a lunch bunch. They will also be offering classes on woodworking. This will be helpful for us in New Bern who do not live near a Klingspor’s or Woodcraft or able to travel to some of the classes offered by this forum.
So to specifics:
We’ll meet up at 11AM at 406 Guion Street in New Bern. We’ll do the shop tour and then head to lunch somewhere after that. This is a rain or shine event. It doesn’t look like there will be any hurricanes that will impede this.
Directions –
1. If you know where Precision Molding is, head to that.
2. If you don’t know where Precision Molding is then:
From wherever you are coming head to Broad Street. Turn onto George Street, which is the street that runs into Tryon Palace. Turn north (away from Tryon Palace) on George Street. You’ll pass the old Cedar Grove cemetery on your right. After the cemetery Guion Street is in another block. Turn right on the street immediately after Precision Molding. George Street Garage is on the other side of the street. Head down Guion and Shop Class is on the left right before the train tracks.
