My first picnic table

I recently made a new picnic table for a buddy of mine. His old one was falling apart. I made it out of construction grade lumber pressure treated 2x6 and 2x4s. I learned of few things for when I build one for myself that I will do differently. For starters I will use 2x8s for the table top. I would also flip the center table top stiffener to be horizontal and not vertical to cut down on the chance of banging a knee. Lastly, I would make it 8 feet long instead of 6. But that’s just a personal taste of mine.

How long is it (pic 3)? Why didn't you use 2 x 8s on this one?

Which piece are you referring too? I don't see a table top stiffener but there are 2 pieces beneath the table top that are angled at 45 degrees on each end which is standard construction for picnic tables.

Good job! I am sure you and your family will enjoy lots of great burgers/steaks and conversation sitting around the table.

Nice work on the picnic table, Chris.

Just a wild guess.
