When using, Minwax putty for filling nail holes, has anyone here have experience using transtint to deepen the color? If so, how did it workout. How did you mix it?

Gene, I believe Minwax putty is an oil based product. If that is indeed true, Transtint is not compatible with oil based products without using a special transtint additive. To be sure you may want to ask Jeff Jewitt.

I would imagine a UTC like Mixol would work.

Thanks Robert. Since move-in is Monday, I elected to forgo the chemistry experiment and went with walnut colored putty. The big boxes had limited colors. The walnut is a little light in color and not enough red, but sometimes I'm overly critical.

Use alcohol based tint it will work with oil based things. You can get in the art dept at Hobby lobby. Or....... you can use oil based artist paint with japan drier...... if you like living on the wild side........

Just mix different color putty together. If yours is too dark add a ball from a lighter color and need them together. Or vice versa.
